Empowering Women and Girls Leaders Retreat

On 11 May 2026, Maddi Powell, our Partnerships and Groups Co-ordinator had the privilege of attending the three-day Empowering Women and Girls Leaders Retreat, hosted by the Northern Rivers Community Foundation for recipients of the Empowering Women and Girls Grant, a grant we received for our Nourish Project that we took across the Northern Rivers.

It was an honour to be invited and an invaluable opportunity to connect and collaborate with a diverse network of incredible women undertaking impactful work to support women and girls at all stages of life across our community.

The retreat provided a meaningful space to pause, reflect, and recharge – offering time to refill our cups, spark creativity, and strengthen our shared commitment to empowering women. We left feeling inspired and re-energised, ready to continue uplifting and supporting the women around us. Thank you Northern Rivers Community Foundation.

Acknowledgement of Country

Women’s Health Northern Rivers acknowledges the Widjabul Wia-bal people of the Bundjalung Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we live, work, and play.

We pay deep respect to Elders past and present, and honour the leadership of emerging Elders.

We extend our respect to all Bundjalung clan groups, and recognise the ongoing cultural and spiritual connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to Country – land, waters and sky.

We especially acknowledge the Bundjalung women who continue to care for Country, and the knowledge, wisdom and stories they share.

We are grateful to live and work on this land, and remain committed to walking together towards better health and social outcomes.
